“This makes the Great Lockdown the worst recession since the Great Depression, and far worse than the Global Financial Crisis.” – IMF April 14, 2020
COVID-19 Summary
- The US currently has 730,000 cases, with between 25,000 and 30,000 new cases each day
- US deaths will surpass 40,000 this week (Source: Wall Street Journal)
- The main cause of uncertainty with COVID-19 is that it is difficult to know how many people have been infected, if they can be reinfected, and there is no cure, treatment or vaccination
- There are 2.3 million cases worldwide
- Many now believe that we will not have an effective recovery until there is widespread and accurate testing, a cure and a vaccination (the latter which could take twelve months)
